Ohhhh Life. How you kill me. 08/10/2009
The Music Man is up and going well. We have a sold out show this coming Wednesday so that should be exciting! I love having a place to go and people to see nearly every day. What a sense of purpose it gives! I love my cast. My heart is going to break later this month. I hope I'll have another show to look forward to by then!! I had a callback for this show called Fat Camp @ NYMF this Saturday. It was funny, my long train ride, a 5 minute call and then a long train ride back for the show but sooo worth it. Everyone was extremely nice. I met a woman while waiting for my appt who had played the role we both were auditioning for a few years ago at the reading. She was nice too! I had never had an appointment callback before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was an interesting experience! I want to do this show soooo badly, but I'm concerned that I didn't do my best because I was so nervous, but you know what? All I can do is move on to the next thing and cross my fingers!!! The Music Man Opens Tomorrow. Come SEEEEE 08/05/2009
The lights are set, the costumes are set, the set is set (pretty much. Some of it moves). Come see The Music Man at Tri-Arts at Sharon Playhouse and support us who have worked our tushies off for the past several weeks. Or for Marion's costume's alone. Seriously our girl Allison (Marian) looks GORGEOUS in all her frocks, and in fact one I am going to steal and amplify using my magnifier to my size. And Harold looks handsome in his blue plaid whanots and whoo haas. And my Pick-A Little Ladies and teens got it going on too. And of course my luva Marcellus looks super keen. And I guess people can sing and dance too. I guess you should come for that reason too. Run Through!!! AHHHHHH!!! 07/30/2009
We had our first run through today, and it actually went pretty well I think! I am scared for tomorrow though for some reason. OMG Alison and Gavin on till there was you the reprise, I always get teary eyed, and then of course start crying when those kids come in with their instruments. Totes Presh!! Tomorrow we have another long rehearsal (1-9) and then the next day a 12 hour tech which should be fun (I'm only being partly sarcastic). I wish I could spend more time with the cast!! OOOooo My feet, my poor poor FEET. 07/29/2009
Dear God, Please give me them dancin' feet so I'm not so much a Punky Brewster. Actually, my problem isn't so much that I can't do the dance (well there's ONE step I'm having real trouble with) but that I'm so slow at connecting everything together. It's very discouraging. So yeah, if you have time and you exist and stuff, please do that after curing hunger and all that jazz. Shipoopied Out!!! 07/22/2009
I learned my little dance duet with Marc today. Haha I need work, but then I ALWAYS do for dance because I'm a super slow learner. Trying not to be negative. Keeping on the bright side!!! I'm getting a cold I think and I'm not happy about it after having a stomach bug last week. Come on immune system, you're normally so good to me!! Is it because I haven't been eating my 8 servings of fruit a day? Hmm. I'd better get back to that. Trouble and Friends Who Can't Sing. 07/14/2009
I'm losing my ability to sing high! This is scaring me!!! My First Music Man Rehearsal!!! 07/12/2009
I had my first rehearsal for The Music Man today! My I was scared!!! Everyone was very nice and friendly though. We worked on pretty much every ensemble number in the show and then Pick A Little Talk A Little. The music man is a little harder than I thought, but we'll manage. I DID get to fill one of my dreams though. The wonderful gentlemen who play the Barbershop Quartet were sitting around during a break and singing and asked if anyone knew Will I Ever Tell You and being utterly unlike me I said I did and got to sing it with them!! My nerves got to me so I didn't sound my best, but it was still a thrill!!! Especially since Marion is a role I'll probably never get to play unless I have a very open minded director. I just hope I can do Ethel justice! I figure with the Pick A Little Ladies she's a younger (all the other ladies are in their 30's at least), unmarried woman and kind of looks up to them. Clearly a follower. I just have to negotiate between the jolly gal she seems to be a lot of the time and her distaste for Marion (in the beginning). It's very teen girl behavior. Who is Ethel? Here's a clip of the woman who played her both on Broadway and in the film version: @ 1:49. Clearly I WOULD play rule with Tuba backing me up while dancing. If I even dance in this production! |
